Rotary awards $8K in scholarships

The Rotary Club of Nicholasville recently awarded $8,000 in scholarships for students within the community. Nine scholarships were awarded to students who graduated from high school earlier this year. An 10th grant, deemed a “legacy scholarship,” went to a previous winner as he continues to pursue a college degree. The recipients were:

— The Joe McMurtry Award, $1,500: John McCaw (West Jessamine).
— $750 each: Brian “Michael” Barrett (East Jessamine), Brooke Childers (West Jessamine), Aiden Coker (West Jessamine), Nathan Davis (East Jessamine), Cole Derosett (West Jessamine), Colby Jordan (West Jessamine), Ragan Moore (Home-school) and Bethany Mummert (West Jessamine).
— Legacy Award, $500: Zachary Thornbury (Bluegrass Community & Technical College).
