Jessamine Girl Scouts have drive-in bronze and silver award ceremony

Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road (GSKWR) honored nearly 100 esteemed young Kentucky women at their “drive-in” Bronze and Silver Highest Award ceremony.

GSKWR’s CEO Susan Douglas, joined by the Council’s COO Ruby Webster and Board President Kathleen Regan, honored the award-winning Girl Scouts at Camp Shawano, a Jessamine County GSKWR camp property.

Friends and family joined the Girl Scouts, cheering them on from inside their decorated vehicles.

Girl Scouting’s highest awards program represents girls’ dedication to making a difference for people in areas such as social services, health care and education, requiring rigorous projects that positively impact the community.

The Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior in grades 4 through 5 can achieve, requiring a 20-plus hour Take Action Project.

The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette in grades 6 through 8 can earn, involving a 50-plus hour Take Action Project.
