COVID cases up to 40 in Jessamine

Jessamine County added two more coronavirus cases in the past week, as testing continues at the health department.

As of Tuesday afternoon, 40 cases have been reported by the Health Department, though only five of those are listed as active.

The Health Department has tested nearly 400 people since testing began April 22. Only six of those tested as positive for COVID-19, with another 114 tests listed as pending. The remaining 273 tests were negative.

Testing is free for those who qualify by having one of the symptoms: a fever of more than 100 degrees, a dry cough, shortness of breath or diarrhea, he said.To schedule testing, people must complete an online screening tool on the Health Department’s website or by phone. The department will the schedule an appointment for the test itself.

Of Jessamine County’s confirmed cases, 10 patients were in the 18 to 30-year-old group and another 10 were in the 51 to 60 age group. There has only been one patient younger than 18.
